Home Sweet Dormitory

It's quiet inside our five story chateau. Except for weekdays when maintenance men are rearranging furniture above our heads or hitting the lobby for more chemicals to add a fresh layer of shine to the floors. And there's always the fire alarm tests that happen to be scheduled for Levi's nap time. But somehow our little champion slept right through them. Strobe lights and all. It's his mama's genes.

We're grateful to be back between weekend travels and caught up in a week where every night has been full to the brim. And tonight, Thursday, is no exception. As I type the Tegen family is welcoming a new member a few miles away and a very feverish toddler sleeps in my arms. More on the new member to come and an update accompanied by an exciting video once our boy is feeling better.

Summit Thoughts

I have two sleeping boys (one who is in a whole lot of pain after having his wisdom teeth removed this morning) and a minute to update you and shoot some emails out. As mentioned yesterday, a post of my thoughts from the Summit is up at
the Caroline's Promise blog. In it I share about one of the most precious dreams I have ever dreamed. You can read about it here.

Hope your Monday is going well! Looking forward to some time to love on my boys and get some creamy-potato-nourishment in them when they wake.

Orphan Summit, Milestones and Wisdom...Teeth

Saturday in the early morning we pulled in from Kentucky and an amazing, power-packed conference. I'll be sharing lots of thoughts on the Summit over at the Caroline's Promise blog. As soon as the post is up I'll share the link here.

And for Levi's haircut, three days away and a new haircut have us feeling like he's all grown up. But tonight my heart was comforted rocking him and giving him his warm bottle of milk. Here's the promised video of his haircut from last Sunday.

Tomorrow we head to an oral surgeon where Jason will have three wisdom teeth removed. One is halfway in with a cavity. Bummer. One is hiding below the surface and will have to be cut out. And the third is below the surface with a tumor growing underneath. Double bummer. But somehow, every time we share that tidbit of info we can't help but chuckle. He'll have quite the wisdom tooth tale.

We'll tweet tomorrow to keep you posted on the surgery's progress. Not sure we can promise any pictures though. Puffy cheeks are not popular these days. :)

Mother's Day and Milestones

"You'll understand when you're a parent." I've thought about this all-too-familiar phrase a lot in this past year.

Now I think I do. Understand it, I mean. A whole new level of love and purpose filled me when our wee one burst into the world last Easter. And he has made me appreciate mine and Jason's parents so much more. What a significant job parents have taking an impressionable, helpless infant from the hospital and seeing them become a self-sufficient, healthy, contributing member of society approximately eighteen years later. Talk about needing a game plan.

So celebrating this second mother's day I reveled in the beauty and got one of the best presents a mom could ask for: a picnic, an exciting new book and...a mullet-free one year old. Video of the event to come this week!

Happy Mother's Day!

Today Levi turns thirteen months. In our downloading of videos and pictures we can see the changes that often go unnoticed from day to day like these milestones from eleven months. Very soon we believe we'll be able to share thirteen month clips of a walking toddler. But for now, these are some of the tricks he's still mastering.
