3.1 Miles

Some things will never make sense. Like why hot dogs come in packs of ten while buns come in eights or why you park in a driveway and drive in a parkway. Add to that list why people pay money to run on an ordinary road with hundreds of others. And why some take it so far to push themselves 13 or 26 miles and pay for the experience! But tonight I became one of them.

I was convinced running was for some but not for me! I had never run more than half a mile in my whole life before this school year. Jason, who runs four miles almost every day of the week, tried to encourage me, even beg me to start. It got me out the door, but a student named Hannah helped me put one foot in front of the other. We are "sole" mates. And we worked up slowly until four miles were finished. I still can't believe it. And tonight, precious Hannah ran every step by my side for 3.1 miles with Jason (who finished in record time and came back) running the last half mile in with us, cheering us on. And we made it with even a sprint to the end! 31 minutes, 55 seconds. No record but a great accomplishment.

Hannah, we did it! Ready to shoot for under 30?
