Snow, Saltwater, and Gold!

We spent the majority of the day Saturday driving from Yosemite Valley up through the High Country. The Tioga pass is the summit of that particular drive and is closed from October to late May or early June most years. We were told that some years they haven't opened it at all because of the snowpack. We were lucky to find it opened on the last day of May, though the entire ground was covered with snow at the pass and some of the high lakes were still frozen. Even last weekend they received up to a foot of fresh snow. We spent the afternoon at Mono Lake (salt lake) and Bodie (a deserted gold-rush town from the late 1800's). We finally arrived at Lake Tahoe around 7PM. Here's a sampling of what we saw yesterday...
